The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has joined a coalition consisting of 50 organizations to urge Governor Healey to delay the enforcement of the Advance Clean Truck rule in Massachusetts. This regulation, modeled after California's policies, aims to reduce fossil fuel-powered trucks by mandating the sale of more electric vehicles.

This requirement presents challenges for businesses as they would either have to purchase more expensive electric alternatives, lacking necessary infrastructure, seek non-electric models outside Massachusetts, or continue using older, more polluting trucks.

NFIB expressed appreciation to its members for sending letters to government officials. "We want to thank the many NFIB members that sent hundreds of letters to your elected officials on this topic," the organization stated. "Your activism, along with letters from others like you across the Commonwealth, helped turn the tide and shine a spotlight on this very important matter."

The delay in the enforcement of the rule is seen as a temporary measure. "However, the fight is not over yet as this is only a delay in enforcement," the NFIB noted, adding, "Lawmakers must take action to scale back some of the burdensome environmental policies that make it too costly to operate a small business in Massachusetts."
