The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has released the Draft Morrissey Boulevard Study for public comment. The public comment period will last 60 days, ending on May 5. This study was initiated by the Morrissey Boulevard Commission, established by the Massachusetts Legislature to examine the corridor and provide findings.

In collaboration with MassDOT, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and the City of Boston, a conceptual planning study was conducted. The aim was to develop and analyze alternatives for improving public spaces, mobility, connectivity, safety, and climate resilience in Boston and nearby communities.

The study team also focused on creating actionable short-term improvements for the corridor and surrounding neighborhoods. The draft report provides an overview of the study's background, goals, objectives, public engagement process, existing conditions along the corridor, alternatives development and analysis process, findings, and draft recommendations.

Following the public comment period, a final report will be issued incorporating feedback received. An in-person workshop is scheduled for March 20 at Hilton Inn Express Boston to gather input on study alternatives.
