The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), representing over 5,000 members in Massachusetts, has responded to Governor Maura Healey's 2025 State of the Commonwealth Address. Christopher Carlozzi, NFIB Massachusetts State Director, issued a statement addressing the concerns of small businesses regarding the regulatory environment in Massachusetts.
"Small businesses in the Commonwealth spend an inordinate amount of time navigating the harsh Massachusetts regulatory environment, so we appreciate Governor Healey’s call for regulatory review," Carlozzi stated. He acknowledged past efforts by previous administrations to ease these burdens and expressed hope that Governor Healey will achieve tangible results for employers.
Carlozzi also advised lawmakers against introducing new regulations that could worsen conditions for small businesses. "Further, while addressing licensing and regulation review is a step in the right direction, to truly help the state’s Main Street businesses policymakers must address the state’s unemployment insurance tax crisis, rising healthcare premiums, skyrocketing energy expenses, and an ever-growing list of labor mandates," he added.
For eight decades, NFIB has been advocating for small and independent business owners across America. As a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization since its founding in 1943, NFIB remains dedicated to supporting these enterprises at both federal and state levels.
