Rep. Jake Auchincloss, representing Massachusetts' 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared his views on several pressing issues via social media posts dated December 13, 2024. Auchincloss has been serving in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Joe Kennedy III and has a background in both state and federal legislative roles.

In a tweet posted on December 13, 2024, Auchincloss called for legislative action during the lame-duck session to address rising prescription drug costs. He emphasized the need to eliminate intermediaries who contribute to these increased expenses. "Congress must act during the lame duck session to cut out the middlemen making your Rx drugs more expensive."

Later that day, Auchincloss expressed his stance on military spending and bureaucracy. He stated his support for a stronger military but criticized inefficiencies within defense procurement processes. He announced his intention to oppose defense authorization and appropriations until improvements are made by the Pentagon. "I support a stronger, tougher military. I do not support bloated bureaucracy, cost-plus procurement, and industry capture."

In another post from December 13, 2024, Auchincloss commented on international affairs regarding Syria's political situation following the end of Assad's regime. He posed a question about Syria's future direction amidst this significant change. "The despotic Assad regime is over. What might come next for Syria?"
