Early voting begins this Saturday, August 24, for the State Primary Election in Massachusetts. This date also marks the deadline for in-person or online voter registration. According to state regulations, early voting must commence 10 days before state primary elections.
“With early voting, all eligible voters can make their voices heard in this year’s state primary election up to ten days before Election Day on Tuesday, September 3,” said Geoff Foster, Common Cause Massachusetts Executive Director. “With early voting and vote by mail, we have more options for how we choose to cast a ballot and pick our state leaders. Common Cause Massachusetts encourages everyone to get out and vote before the long weekend.”
In 2022, Common Cause Massachusetts and statewide partners led the passage of the VOTES Act, a reform package that expanded early voting. The organization first championed expanding early voting in 2014, extending the time Massachusetts voters can cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.
If voters encounter any issues at the polls, Common Cause Massachusetts advises them to call or text 866-OUR-VOTE, a nonpartisan hotline with experts ready to assist with long lines, locating polling stations, and other voting-related concerns.
