Assumption University today announced the hiring of Kenneth Swain as the new Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing.
"Ken brings an incredible passion and expertise to athletic communications, and I am greatly looking forward to the many ways his talents will help us foster awareness of our strong athletic program," said Eric Gobiel, Director of Athletics. "His attention to detail and creativity will allow us to better showcase the contributions our student-athletes and coaches are making on and off all the playing surfaces."
Swain comes to Assumption after three and a half years at New England College as the Athletic Communication Coordinator, where he was the primary contact for all 21 NCAA Division III sponsored sports.
"I am excited to cover athletics at Assumption University and thank Eric Gobiel and the search committee for their support in this process," stated Swain. " Assumption's athletic program, coaching staff, and student-athletes play an important role here on campus and within the community. This is an incredible opportunity for me."
In the Fall of 2018, Swain served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Keene State College in Keene, NH. In that role, he was the primary contact for men's and women's soccer and basketball programs and oversaw the equipment room activities.
During the 2017-18 academic year, he served as the Assistant Sports Information Director/New Media Coordinator at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. While with the Nor'easters, Swain served as the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse programs while assisting in all aspects of the sports information office and creating social media and video content.
Swain also worked as a graduate assistant at UMass Dartmouth from 2015-17. Working with the Corsairs, Swain assisted in the daily operation of 25 intercollegiate programs in compliance with the strategic marketing platform of the athletic department.
The Shirley, Mass. native, has worked numerous NCAA Division I men's hockey games since 2015 – including three Division I Men's Regional Championships (2015, 2019), the 2022 Division I Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four, and has volunteered at numerous Hockey East contests at the TD Garden and Fenway Park.
Swain is a 2015 graduate of Nichols College with a degree in business administration with a concentration in sports management. He has also worked as the Director of Baseball Operations for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League and as an official statistician for the Cape Cod Baseball League.
