Jodi Shaw resigned from her position at Smith College in Massachusetts over what she called a “racially hostile environment.”

Shaw claims that the college’s social justice initiatives had made it difficult for her, a white woman, to work. She said that the school’s anti-racist programs are focused too much on white privilege and it's targeting white employees like her.

Shaw said that the college offered her a settlement but she decided not to accept it so she could speak out against the school for what she sees as a double standard. She said that its anti-racist program has made the environment too hostile for white people because it made too many adjustments in favor of people of a different ethnic background.

In lieu of the settlement, Shaw set up a GoFundMe page to keep herself afloat financially. Unfortunately, her page has been placed on hold and Shaw claims that the motivation behind it was “for ideological reasons.”

Kathleen McCartney, the college president, spoke with College Fix and said “This employee does not speak for the college or any part of the college. Further, we believe (a YouTube video Shaw posted) mischaracterizes the college’s important, ongoing efforts to build a more equitable and inclusive living, learning and working environment,”
