UMass women’s lacrosse finishes season ranked in national polls

The UMass women’s lacrosse team finished the 2026 season ranked No. 23 in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll and No. 25 in the final KANE Women’s Division I Media Poll, as announced this week on May 28. The Minutewomen completed their season with a record of 16-3, sweeping both the Mid-American Conference regular season and postseason championships to secure their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and third appearance in four years.

In their NCAA First Round game, UMass was narrowly defeated by sixth-seeded Navy, losing 17-16 in a contest that was decided in the final seconds. Navy subsequently advanced to play Syracuse and then faced third-seeded Maryland in the national quarterfinals.

UMass reached its conference championship game for the eighteenth consecutive year. The team ended the season with the nation’s No. 2 scoring offense and No. 3 scoring defense.

Individual honors included Kassidy Morris being named first team All-Region, All-ECAC, and first team All-Mid-American Conference. Bridget Valentine received MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, Cate Marshall was recognized as Rookie of the Year, and Jana Drummond earned Coach of the Year.
