The UMass Lowell baseball team split a doubleheader against Binghamton at Edward A. LeLacheur Park on May 15. Senior Zachary Scott went 3-for-6 with his first collegiate home run and five runs batted in, helping the River Hawks to an 8-4 win in game two after dropping the opener by the same score.

The results matter as they reflect both teams’ positions heading into the end of the regular season, with UMass Lowell now holding a record of 20–28 overall and Binghamton at 27–20.

In game one, Binghamton took advantage of an error to score early and later mounted a seven-run rally in the sixth inning to secure an 8-4 victory. The River Hawks had initially taken a lead following Scott’s three-run homer but could not hold off their opponents. Graduate student Frankie DeMaro started for UMass Lowell, pitching five innings with one strikeout.

Game two saw senior Brian Foley start on the mound for UMass Lowell, recording six strikeouts over four innings. Freshman Tyler Dunlea contributed three strong relief innings with five strikeouts and no hits allowed, earning his second win of the season. Freshman Colin Ducie closed out the game with two scoreless innings for his first career save. Senior Joseph DeLanzo added offense with his first home run as a River Hawk, driving in three runs.

The final games of the regular season will take place on Saturday, May 16, when UMass Lowell hosts Binghamton again for Senior Day at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. The ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., followed by first pitch at 3:00 p.m.
