A Springfield man has been sentenced for unlawfully possessing a firearm after being previously convicted of a felony. Sean Krasin, 31, received an 80-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. The sentencing took place on July 3, 2025, in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Krasin had pleaded guilty in January 2025 to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. His arrest occurred on June 20, 2022, when he was found with a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Krasin attempted to evade arrest by jumping from the second-floor parking garage at the Holyoke Mall and fleeing through a wooded area nearby.

At the time of this offense, Krasin was on supervised release following his conviction for heroin trafficking in 2018. He had served five years in federal prison for that charge.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in New England; Colonel Geoffrey Nobel of the Massachusetts State Police; and Brian Keenan, Chief of the Holyoke Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse from the Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
