A Springfield resident has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses, according to an announcement from federal authorities. Marcus Hicks, 46, received his sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni and will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
Hicks was convicted in September 2025 on charges that included possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The indictment against him was issued by a federal grand jury in September 2023.
Authorities stated that on November 21, 2022, Hicks was found with 97 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, and two and one-half pounds of marijuana intended for distribution.
The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Jarod A. Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration in New England; Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan; and Superintendent Lawrence Akers of the Springfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse prosecuted the case.
