A Southbridge woman was held on $25,000 bail after her arraignment on April 21 on charges related to a fatal crash that killed a 10-year-old pedestrian, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The case concerns the death of Marleigh Guevara, who died after being struck by a vehicle in Webster. Authorities said Sherry Plitouke, age 35, appeared in Dudley District Court and faces three counts: motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding in a special regulation zone.

Webster Police responded to School Street on April 11 for reports of a pedestrian crash. Emergency responders provided aid at the scene before transporting Marleigh Guevara to UMass Memorial Hospital. She was pronounced dead the following day.

The investigation is ongoing and involves the Webster Police Department, Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC), and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. “No further information will be released at this time,” said Early.

The case highlights continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to address incidents involving pedestrians and motor vehicles.
