A Salvadoran national, Arsenio Valladares, 45, was sentenced in federal court in Boston for illegally reentering the United States after being deported. U.S. District Court Judge Julia E. Kobick sentenced Valladares to time served, which amounts to approximately five months in prison, and imposed one year of supervised release. Following his sentence, Valladares will face deportation proceedings.

Valladares pleaded guilty in July 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He had been indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2025.

According to court records, Valladares was previously removed from the United States on or about April 23, 2008. After his removal, he returned to the country without authorization.

Before his removal in 2008, Valladares had been convicted of several offenses including assault and battery with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, operating under the influence, larceny, and malicious destruction of property. In November 2024, federal immigration authorities were alerted to his presence when his fingerprints were taken during criminal proceedings in Massachusetts. Immigration authorities detained him on March 18, 2025.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Acting Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement.” “Assistant U.S. Attorney Olivia Benjamin prosecuted the case.”
