A Salvadoran national living in Lynn, Massachusetts, has been indicted for allegedly reentering the United States after being deported. Emelio Neftaly Pineda, 46, faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien following his arrest on June 12, 2025. He is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in Boston at a later date.

Court documents state that Pineda was previously deported around July 20, 2016, after being convicted of a felony. If convicted of unlawful reentry after a felony conviction, he could face up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Upon completion of any sentence imposed by the court, Pineda would again be subject to deportation. Sentencing decisions are made by federal district court judges according to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Riley of the Human Trafficking & Civil Rights Unit is prosecuting the case.”

“The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
