A Rockland, Massachusetts man has been sentenced to 83 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. The sentencing took place on December 3, 2025, in Boston federal court.
Lamont Boswell, 40, received the sentence from U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV. In September 2025, Boswell pleaded guilty to one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition while being a convicted felon and to violating the terms of his supervised release.
According to law enforcement, officers conducted a wellness check on April 2, 2025 after finding Boswell apparently passed out in the driver’s seat of his parked car. During this check, they found a loaded Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle. The gun contained thirteen rounds of 9mm ammunition in the magazine and one round in the chamber.
At the time of this offense, Boswell was under federal supervision following a previous conviction in 2021 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. For that earlier offense, he had been sentenced to 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release. Authorities reported that he had also illegally possessed a loaded firearm while driving during that incident.
“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Thomas Greco, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division made the announcement.” Additional assistance came from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Scituate Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred M. Wyshak III prosecuted the case as part of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit.
The prosecution is connected to Operation Take Back America—a national initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and reducing violent crime by combining resources from multiple DOJ programs including Project Safe Neighborhoods and Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces.
