A Providence resident, Mark Huynh, 39, has been arrested and charged with transporting child sexual abuse material. Authorities allege that in 2025, Huynh was apprehended at Boston Logan Airport while entering the United States with an outstanding arrest warrant from Rhode Island. During a search of his electronic devices at the airport, investigators reportedly found several files consistent with child sexual abuse material.
Huynh was taken into custody on February 12, 2026, and appeared in federal court in Boston the same day. The charge of transporting child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 20 years in prison. It also includes at least five years and potentially a lifetime of supervised release, as well as a fine that could reach $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Michael J. Krol, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations New England, announced the arrest. U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Boston Field Office provided assistance during the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Eric L. Hawkins from the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
The investigation falls under Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse cases across the country by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. Authorities emphasized that “the details contained in the charging documents are allegations” and that “the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
