Northeastern track and field team earns 14 medals at CAA Outdoor Championships

The Northeastern track and field team earned a total of 14 medals, including four golds, as it closed out day two of the 2026 Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on May 16. The men’s team finished second overall with 155 points, while the women’s team placed eighth with 41 points.

The event saw freshman Carter Engelman win the CAA decathlon title after totaling 6,224 points across ten events. Engelman also won both the long jump and pole vault within the decathlon competition.

In other field events, senior Mia Belanger cleared a height of 1.66 meters in the high jump. Senior Leila Curtis finished ninth in shot put with a mark of 13.85 meters, followed closely by junior Catherine Sargent in tenth at 13.81 meters. Freshman Aiden Ray took ninth place in the triple jump with a leap of 14.30 meters, while freshman Logan Alfandari threw for a distance of 14.76 meters in men’s shot put. Freshman Ogechi Nathan placed ninth in women’s triple jump at 11.70 meters.

On the track, Northeastern’s men’s relay team—Michael Stroup, Brunner Williams, Alex Landry, and Raymond Felton III—earned silver in the men’s 4×100 meter relay with a time of 39.84 seconds. Senior Patrick Cantlon secured gold in the men’s 1,500 meter race at a time of 3:47.06; junior Ryan Sarney claimed bronze at 3:48.56; sophomore Jack Mattingly was fourth at 3:49.62.

Other medalists included junior Savannah Blair (bronze) and Victoria Knight (fifth) in women’s sprints; sophomore Taeshawn Berry (bronze) and Williams (fourth) in men’s sprints; Blair also took silver in women’s 200 meter dash; Williams won silver and Berry bronze again for men’s sprints over that distance; senior Conall Rogers was fourth in men’s middle distance; graduate student Ryan Slaney earned silver to close out competition for Northeastern.

Several Huskies will now await selection to compete at the NCAA East First Round scheduled to take place from May 27–30 in Lexington.
