Northeastern track and field competes at three meets on April 17

The Northeastern track and field team competed in three separate meets on April 17, including the Virginia Challenge, UConn Northeast Challenge, and MIT Sean Collier Invitational.

These competitions allowed athletes from Northeastern to showcase their abilities across multiple events. The results highlight strong performances in both field and distance events.

At the Virginia Challenge, Aidan Moreau achieved a throw of 55.65 meters in the hammer throw event. Leila Curtis recorded a mark of 14.83 meters in the shot put.

During the UConn Northeast Challenge, Logan Alfandari led for the Husky men with a discus throw of 42.69 meters. Catherine Sargent posted a mark of 42.59 meters in women’s discus, while Hailey Romero threw 37.64 meters in javelin. In jumping events, Aiden Ray reached 6.39 meters in long jump and Ava Carry-McDonald jumped 5.22 meters.

At the MIT Sean Collier Invitational, Stephanie Kriss took second place (4:29.68), Lucy Abdow finished third (4:29.74), and Lauren Trejo placed fifth (4:32.96) in the women’s 1500-meter run. In the women’s 5000-meter race, Kristen Melnik finished fourth (17:21.78) and Keira Gamily was fifth (17:23.91). Ryan Leslie placed fourth among men with a time of 14:40.37 in his own heat of the same event.

Vivian McMahon secured fourth place in the women’s 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:19.97 while Jack Seagroatt finished third among men at that distance with a time of 30:26.68.

The Huskies are set to continue competition at both the UConn Northeast Challenge and MIT Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday, April 18.
