The Northeastern Huskies advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association Championship game after winning two elimination contests on May 23 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, North Carolina. The team defeated Hofstra 5-4 and top-seeded Campbell 7-4, setting up a winner-take-all matchup with Campbell for a spot in the NCAA Regional round.

These victories keep Northeastern’s postseason hopes alive as they seek another conference title. The Huskies are now one win away from securing an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

In the first game against Hofstra, Ryan Griffin pitched 5.1 innings of one-hit baseball and AJ Aschettino hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Andrew Wertz recorded his sixth save of the season by getting the final out. The Huskies built an early lead but had to withstand late rallies from Hofstra before closing out their first-ever CAA Tournament win over that opponent.

The second game saw freshman Cooper Maher make his first career start, pitching 5.2 innings and earning the win against Campbell. Will Fosberg hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning, while a five-run sixth helped secure Northeastern’s victory. Wertz again closed out the game for his second save of the day and seventh overall this season.

With these wins, Northeastern reached its fifth CAA Championship game appearance in six seasons. The program previously won titles in 2021 and 2025 and finished as runner-up in both 2022 and 2023.

Northeastern will face Campbell again on Sunday, May 24 at Brooks Field for a chance to advance to NCAA Regionals.
