The Northeastern Huskies will make their 12th appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, as announced on May 25. The team, representing the Coastal Athletic Association, is set to compete in the Lawrence Regional hosted in Kansas.
This marks Northeastern’s second consecutive trip to the tournament and their first back-to-back appearances since 1972 and 1973. The Huskies secured their spot by winning four straight games through the losers’ bracket of the CAA Tournament, ultimately defeating top-seeded Campbell twice for their second consecutive conference title.
In Lawrence, Northeastern will open play against No. 15 national seed Kansas Jayhawks, who finished their season at 40-16 under head coach Dan Fitzgerald. This is Kansas’s first time hosting an NCAA regional after claiming both Big 12 regular-season and tournament championships.
Depending on results, Northeastern could also face either No. 3 seed Missouri State or No. 2 seed Arkansas later in the regional round. Arkansas enters with a record of 36-19 and is ranked No. 22 nationally under head coach Dave Van Horn, while Missouri State holds a record of 34-19 and earned its place with a strong RPI during its inaugural season in Conference USA.
The opening game for Northeastern is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time against Kansas on ESPN+. It will be only the second meeting between these two programs, with their previous matchup taking place in 2015.
