The Northeastern Huskies were held to two hits in a 6-0 loss against the Hofstra Pride on May 21 at Brooks Field, sending the team into the elimination bracket of the 2026 Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Championship.

This defeat is significant as it marks Northeastern’s first shutout since April and continues their winless record against Hofstra in CAA tournament play. The Huskies are now 0-4 all-time versus Hofstra in this postseason setting.

Hofstra started strong with a three-run first inning, adding single runs in the second, fifth, and ninth innings. Northeastern pitcher Robbie O’Connor allowed five runs (four earned) over four innings but managed to settle down after a difficult start. David McSweeney provided relief for 4.2 innings, giving up just one run on five hits and striking out two batters. Tom Mahoney closed out with a scoreless third of an inning.

Northeastern’s best chance to score came in the third inning when they loaded the bases but failed to bring any runners home. Later opportunities in the eighth and ninth innings also fell short as Hofstra’s pitching staff prevented any extra-base hits—a feat not accomplished against Northeastern since their last shutout loss on April 11.

Feinberg and Bentley had Northeastern’s only two hits of the night while Harmony drew three walks from four plate appearances. Despite multiple attempts late in the game, including putting runners on base via walks by Carmelo Musacchia and AJ Aschettino in the ninth, Hofstra ended each rally effectively.

With this result, Northeastern moves into an elimination contest scheduled for Friday afternoon against either Monmouth or UNCW at Brooks Field.
