The City of Northampton released its weekly construction update on May 29, detailing ongoing and upcoming public works projects scheduled for the week of June 1, 2026.
According to the announcement, the Highway Division recently repaired potholes on several streets including Acrebrook Drive, Beattie Drive, Florence Road, Leeno Terrace, Nonotuck Street and North Street. Sign installation and repairs took place on Bridge Street, Clement Street, Elm Street, Federal Street, Florence Street and Market Street. Sidewalk repairs were completed on Bates Street, and street sweeping was conducted in multiple areas.
Major projects highlighted include accessibility upgrades to Boggy Meadow Road by 102 Property Maintenance Inc., which will keep Cooke Avenue parking lot and Boggy Meadow Road closed during construction. Vegetation management work is underway at dams within city watershed areas by Cain’s Mechanical LLC. MassDOT has contracted Warner Bros., LLC for pedestrian improvements along Easthampton Road and South Street (Route 10), with mobilization expected in coming weeks.
Other ongoing projects involve sewer main replacement on Kingsley Avenue by Taylor Davis Landscape Co Inc., pavement microsurfacing repair along Florence Road by Indus Inc., bridge deck replacements along local rail trails by E.T.& L. Corp., sidewalk reconstruction across various locations by Gomes Construction Company, as well as several gas main replacement initiatives led by Eversource Gas contractors J.S. Rae and NPL Construction.
The city also provided information about road closures—including Lovefield Street—and outlined procedures for residents to report potholes or traffic sign issues through online forms. Updates included progress reports on stream restoration at Old Wilson Road led by SumCo Eco-Contracting; sewer lining operations with Insituform Technologies LLC; water storage tank demolition managed by S&R Corporation; tree protection measures during utility upgrades; as well as reminders about project timelines such as completion dates or upcoming phases of work.
