Governor Maura Healey’s recent announcement on reducing business regulations has been met with approval from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Christopher Carlozzi, NFIB’s Massachusetts state director, expressed gratitude for the governor’s recognition of the need to simplify operations for employers. However, he emphasized that addressing the nearly $5 billion unemployment insurance debt is crucial. “Reducing red tape and bureaucracy is always welcome news for small businesses, and we are appreciative that Governor Healey recognizes the need to make it easier for employers to operate,” said Carlozzi. He added, “Today’s announcement was a wonderful first step, but we still have a long way to go to make the Commonwealth affordable for small businesses.”

The NFIB recently launched a radio and digital ad campaign urging legislators to reform Massachusetts’ unemployment insurance system. More information on this initiative can be found at ProtectMassachusettsSmallBusiness.org.

For over eight decades, NFIB has championed the interests of small and independent business owners across America. The organization remains committed to its mission since its inception in 1943.
