Millbury Memorial Jr./Sr. High School announced on May 18 that the Grade 10 Math MCAS will take place on Tuesday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 20. The school said participation in the MCAS is required and outlined several procedures to ensure a secure testing environment.

The announcement is important for students and families because performance on the MCAS can qualify students for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship during their senior year. The school emphasized that no phones, smartwatches, personal devices, or earbuds will be allowed during testing to maintain test security.

According to administration and faculty at Millbury Memorial Jr./Sr. High School, “Please make sure students come to school with a device fully charged so it is at 100% battery for both days of testing.” They also said that students should log out and shut down their Chromebooks before the test day so updates can process properly.

Testing rooms will be posted outside the cafeteria and guidance office, with locations remaining consistent both days. Attendance will be taken in these rooms. Testing is scheduled for the first three blocks of each day; however, additional time will be given if needed until completion by 2:00 pm. Students who are still working at lunchtime will have an opportunity to get lunch and eat in their testing room.

If a student misses either test day due to absence, they are expected to attend a make-up session on Thursday, May 21. The school advised families: “Make sure students go to bed early on the nights before MCAS and eat a good breakfast in the morning.” Administration thanked families for their cooperation.

Millbury Public Schools serves central Massachusetts across pre-kindergarten through grade twelve levels as part of its commitment to community development by preparing responsible citizens who achieve success in education, careers, and community involvement according to the official website. Students are known as Woolies—a tradition upheld by current learners and alumni alike.
