The Merrimack College baseball team qualified for the postseason after a 12-11 victory over Quinnipiac at Greater Lawrence Technical School on May 15.
The win allows Merrimack, now holding a record of 24-27 overall and 18-10 in conference play, to advance to the MAAC Baseball Championships next week. The result marks an important achievement for the team and gives them an opportunity to continue their season.
“It’s great,” head coach Brian Murphy said. “The first goal of every season is to earn more games. To be able to do that, excited for the guys and excited for the chance to keep playing next week.”
During Friday’s game, Merrimack recorded 13 hits, including three home runs. Brooks Craigue hit two solo home runs—one in the first inning and another in the eighth inning—which proved decisive. Matt DeShiro added a grand slam during a seven-run fifth inning, while Jayden Hamilton contributed a three-run homer in the fourth as part of a stretch where Merrimack scored ten unanswered runs after trailing by four.
Joey Frammartino was among four Warriors players who had multiple hits, finishing with four hits and two runs scored.
Looking ahead, Merrimack will host Quinnipiac again in a double-header at Greater Lawrence Technical School on Saturday. The first game is scheduled for noon Eastern Time.
