Former Harvard Crimson forward Matt Coronato is set to play for USA Hockey at the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland, with Team USA opening tournament play against host Switzerland on May 15.

Coronato was added to the roster on May 7 and will make his second appearance at the World Championship after previously representing the United States following the end of the 2022-23 Harvard season. His participation highlights a significant achievement for both himself and Harvard’s hockey program.

At the end of this past season, Coronato reached his 100th career National Hockey League point, having recorded a total of 18 goals and 27 assists for a combined total of 45 points. Over his last two seasons with the Calgary Flames, he has scored a combined total of 42 goals and provided 50 assists. The Flames selected him in the first round as the thirteenth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, making him Harvard’s highest draft pick ever.

During his time at Harvard, Coronato was known for scoring crucial goals during important games. In the 2022-23 season, he scored overtime game-winners against Yale on January 20 and Colgate on January 27. He also tied an important game late in regulation during a win at Princeton on January 6 and scored four goals across Beanpot matchups against Boston College and Northeastern.

As a rookie player with Harvard, Coronato netted an overtime goal that secured a victory over Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey Championship game—a win that gave Harvard its Whitelaw Cup title in March of that year. He was named Most Outstanding Player of that tournament.
