The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced a travel advisory on March 26 ahead of the Road to 26 Brazil vs. France friendly match in Foxborough, advising drivers to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
According to the department, increased traffic volumes are expected on roadways approaching Foxborough, including Route 1, Interstate 95, and Interstate 495. Undersecretary and State Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver said, “Ahead of the Brazil versus France friendly match on March 26, we’re expecting increased traffic volumes on roadways approaching Foxborough, including Route 1, I-95, and I-495. For fans, visitors, commuters, and anyone else expecting to travel through the area on matchday, we encourage everyone to drive safely and without distractions, plan ahead, and allow for extra time.”
To help manage congestion before and after the match at Gillette Stadium, MassDOT will deploy a contraflow lane on Route 1 between its interchange with I-95 and I-495. The department also said that non-emergency maintenance work will not take place in the vicinity of Foxborough during Thursday night’s event.
Travelers planning to use public transportation are advised to visit mbta.com/Gillette for ticketing and schedule information. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is operating four event trains between South Station in Boston and Gillette/Foxboro Stadium.
