Massachusetts will implement new regulations on so-called “junk fees” starting September 2, as announced by Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. The rules require businesses to present the total price of goods or services, including all additional fees, before consumers enter payment information.
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) commented on the impact these regulations may have on small employers in the state when they were first introduced. The final version of the regulations contains some modifications from the original proposal. Guidance for business owners and a compliance webinar video are now available to help with adherence to the new requirements.
Business owners with questions or concerns about compliance can contact Christopher Carlozzi at NFIB Massachusetts.
