The University of Massachusetts men’s track and field team concluded its season at the NCAA East Regional meet at the UK Track and Field Complex in Lexington, Ky., according to a May 30 announcement. Three athletes—Riley Cole, Matthew Acquah, and Collin Catherwood—each secured finishes within the top 40 of their respective events.

Cole placed eighth in his heat and 26th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:51.21. He finished his career with the third-fastest time in program history for this event, clocking an 8:46.92 finish at the Penn Relays on April 25.

Acquah took 33rd place in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 15.18 meters (49’9.75″). At the end of his sophomore year, Acquah holds both indoor and outdoor program records for triple jump in UMass men’s track history. He became the first athlete from UMass to surpass the 51-foot mark outdoors—a milestone he reached during the MAC Outdoor Championship held May 14-16.

Catherwood finished 41st in the men’s 5k event with a time of 14:27.36. Earlier this season, he set a new program record for UMass men’s outdoor five-kilometer run by finishing in 13:45.84 at April’s Penn Relays.

The results cap off another competitive year for Massachusetts men’s track and field as several athletes established or improved upon school records.
