MassLive recently featured an opinion piece by Rob Gould, the owner of Interskate 91 South in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Gould is also a member of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). In his op-ed, he calls on Congress to make the 20% small business deduction permanent. This tax deduction was introduced as part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and is set to expire this year unless Congress acts to extend it.

Gould argues that making the deduction permanent would provide “equal treatment with Wall Street,” allowing small businesses like his to “survive and thrive for decades to come.” He highlights that while Wall Street companies enjoy permanent tax relief, Main Street businesses face uncertainty as they prepare for the potential expiration of this crucial deduction.

The NFIB has been representing small and independent business owners for 80 years, advocating in Washington, D.C., and across all 50 states. The organization remains committed to supporting these businesses since its inception in 1943.
