Two men from Lynn, Massachusetts, have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston on charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses. Lexus Perez, 30, and Denys Gonzalez Hernandez, 32, face charges of possession with intent to distribute significant quantities of fentanyl, cocaine base, and methamphetamine. They are also accused of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking activities. Additionally, Perez faces a separate charge for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The indictment follows their arrest in March 2025 after law enforcement conducted a search of their shared apartment in Lynn. During the search in February 2025, authorities reportedly seized two loaded firearms along with 465 grams of fentanyl, 34 grams of cocaine base (commonly known as crack cocaine), and 21 grams of methamphetamine. Gonzalez Hernandez was apprehended outside the apartment where officers allegedly found additional drugs concealed in his sock.
Perez was later located at a hotel room in Saugus. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the location where they reported hearing the sound of a toilet flushing before taking him into custody.
Perez has prior convictions for drug distribution and armed assault with intent to murder that resulted in state prison sentences. Due to his criminal history, he faces enhanced sentencing if convicted on these new charges.
The potential penalties for these offenses include substantial prison terms and fines. The charge related to fentanyl and other drugs carries a minimum sentence of ten years up to life imprisonment and fines reaching $5 million. Perez could face at least 25 years due to his past convictions. The firearm-related charges add further mandatory sentences.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the indictments alongside Scott Riordan from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker; and Christopher P. Reddy from the Lynn Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip C. Cheng is handling the prosecution.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling criminal organizations involved in violent crime across communities nationwide.
The defendants remain presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
