Holy Cross men’s track and field senior Liam Lyons was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, according to a May 20 announcement from the league.
Lyons, who is a double major in international studies and philosophy, achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.59 at the end of his senior fall semester. He also earned first team All-Patriot League honors after winning the gold medal in the 1,500-meter event at the 2026 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 16 with a time of 3:40.76. This performance set new records for both the Patriot League Championship meet and Navy’s facility.
Lyons is currently tied for seventeenth place in the NCAA East Region in the 1,500 meters after posting a season-best time of 3:38.38 at the Raleigh Relays on March 27.
The recognition highlights both academic achievement and athletic excellence among student-athletes in collegiate sports programs. The Academic All-Patriot League honor is awarded to individuals who demonstrate strong performance both on the field and in their studies.
As Lyons concludes his senior year with these achievements, he stands out as an example for other student-athletes balancing academics with competition.
