Rep. Jake Auchincloss, who represents Massachusetts’ 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared his views on congressional appropriations, online gambling addiction among young men, and workforce development in Massachusetts through a series of posts on X.

On October 20, 2025, Auchincloss addressed the history and challenges of the congressional appropriations process. He wrote, “The modern appropriations process has been in effect since the 1970s. Since then, Congress has passed all appropriations on time in only four fiscal years. And never this century.

Democrats in Congress should fix appropriations when we next take power, through multi-year https://t.co/pHvE9sIchp“.

A day later, on October 21, Auchincloss commented on concerns about online gambling and its impact on young men. In his post he stated, “.@JonathanDCohen1 & @roundrobin42 are right: quick dopamine hits from online gambling are luring young men into addiction.

I wrote in the NYT last month about how corporations are using digital dopamine to shrink the terrain of real life & keep young men a captive clientele. https://t.co/HRTbNP2U5Shttps://t.co/AP0wBYg6qA“.

Later that same day, Auchincloss highlighted his visit to Taco Comfort Solutions in Fall River and emphasized the importance of skilled trades for local economies: “Focusing on work, wages & wealth at Taco Comfort Solutions in Fall River, which trains and employs welders & other skilled trades in building water tanks and industrial HVAC solutions. Massachusetts wins when we specialize in the R&D and manufacturing of products with exacting”.

Jake Auchincloss began serving as U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’s 4th District in 2021 after replacing Joe Kennedy III; prior to this role he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (FACTS 1 & 2). Born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1988, Auchincloss continues to reside there today (FACT 3). He is an alumnus of Harvard University and also holds a degree from MIT (FACT 4).
