Rep. Jake Auchincloss, who represents Massachusetts’ 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to address issues related to war powers, foreign policy, and collective punishment in a series of posts on December 1 and 2, 2025.

On December 1, Auchincloss called for legislative action regarding military authority. He wrote: “Congress must take back its war powers. Stop the blood for oil in Venezuela. Revoke the statutes that green-light military adventurism. Restore oversight & investigations.”

Continuing his commentary on U.S. policy decisions, Auchincloss posted on December 2: “Collective punishment is unjust. Individuals should be punished for crimes, not communities. America made this mistake with the Japanese & others, and must not make it with the Afghans.” In a separate post later that day, he shared two links without additional comment: “https://t.co/gbOPjhTd7w https://t.co/CnJ7CHxQqr”.

Jake Auchincloss has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Joe Kennedy III and previously held office in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1988, Auchincloss is an alumnus of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
