U.S. Representative Jake Auchincloss, who serves Massachusetts’ 4th district, addressed several national policy issues and local initiatives in a series of posts on social media between October 31 and November 2, 2025.

On October 31, Auchincloss commented on the role of state leadership in federal assistance programs, particularly referencing Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey’s actions regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). He wrote, “.@MassGovernor is stepping up on SNAP, just like she has on science and energy when Trump acts illegally. But no governor can backfill the need. It’s a federal program and needs to be federally delivered.” The post highlighted Auchincloss’s stance that while state leaders may attempt to address gaps left by federal policy changes or enforcement lapses, some programs require direct federal administration.

Later that day, Auchincloss posted a seasonal greeting: “Happy Halloween!” on October 31.

On November 2, he turned his attention to international economic competition. Auchincloss stated, “America can’t outcompete China with Trump, Inc.’s crony capitalism. Industrial policy that works: education and R&D, rule of law, sound currency, cheap energy, and free trade with free people.”

Jake Auchincloss has represented Massachusetts’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Joe Kennedy III in 2021. Prior to his tenure in Congress beginning in 2021, he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Newton in 1988 and currently residing there at age 35, Auchincloss holds degrees from both Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
