Rep. Jake Auchincloss, a U.S. Congressman representing Massachusetts’ 4th district since 2021, posted a series of statements on March 13, 2026, addressing issues ranging from security spending in Jewish institutions to U.S. military strategy and international tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a tweet posted at 13:21 UTC, Auchincloss highlighted the financial burden placed on Jewish organizations for security measures: “Jewish institutions now spend $765 million annually on security… A typical Jewish organization spends 14 percent of its annual budget on security.” He continued, “This money should be going to community building, child care, and charity. Instead the Jewish community must fortify itself”.

Later that day at 16:15 UTC, Auchincloss commented on post-9/11 U.S. military engagements: “The pattern of the post 9/11 wars has been the U.S. military, ever-more proficient, is failed by U.S. politicians, ever-less capable of crafting or communicating strategy.”

At 21:00 UTC on the same day, he addressed rising geopolitical tensions involving Iran’s Supreme Leader: “The new Khamenei now has new leverage: closing the Strait of Hormuz to deny all non-Chinese navigation. This is a first-order strategic failure by the president; he must come to Congress with a plan to end his war of choice & ensure freedom of transit in the Strait…”

Jake Auchincloss was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1988 and currently resides there. Before joining Congress in 2021—succeeding Joe Kennedy III—he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Auchincloss holds degrees from both Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
