Representative Jake Auchincloss, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 4th district since 2021, recently addressed several pressing issues through a series of public statements. Auchincloss, who succeeded Joe Kennedy III and resides in Newton, Massachusetts, commented on state healthcare policy, a local tragedy in Fall River, and U.S. foreign policy.

On July 14, 2025, Auchincloss discussed the need for cooperation between state and federal officials regarding Medicaid funding. He stated: “To reduce the impact of the Medicaid cuts, the congressional delegation and the governor will need to work together on our 1115 waiver renewal. Massachusetts needs more autonomy over our healthcare than ever.”

Later that day, Auchincloss responded to a fatal fire in Fall River. He wrote: “I mourn for the nine Fall River residents who died in last night’s fire, and I am keeping the over 30 hospitalized residents in my thoughts, wishing them all a full recovery. Thank you to the firefighters and first responders who prevented an even greater tragedy.” This message was posted on July 14, 2025.

On July 15, 2025, Auchincloss commented on international affairs with a critical statement about President Biden’s response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions: “Putin surprised only one person, who unfortunately happens to be the President of the United States.”

Jake Auchincloss was born in Newton in 1988 and is an alumnus of both Harvard University and MIT.
