A virtual public hearing is scheduled for February 25, 2025, at 6 p.m. to discuss the proposed intersection improvements at Centre and Plymouth Streets in Brockton, Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will host the hearing online to present the design plans for the project.
The purpose of this hearing is to inform the public about the proposed changes and gather feedback. “All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible,” states MassDOT.
The project involves reconstructing the intersection of Centre Street (Route 123) and Plymouth Street. The work on Centre Street will extend from east of Commercial Street to beyond Plymouth Street, while on Plymouth Street, it will cover approximately 300 feet north and south of Centre Street. Planned upgrades include new traffic signals, ADA-compliant sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, bicycle lanes, pavement, signage, street lighting, relocation of overhead wires, and improved drainage infrastructure.
A secure right-of-way may be necessary for this project. “The City of Brockton is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands,” notes MassDOT. Information on land acquisitions will be shared during the hearing.
