A Honduran citizen has been sentenced in federal court for illegally reentering the United States after being deported. Jose Denis Guardado-Paz, 40, received a sentence of time served—about 43 days in prison—on August 4, 2025. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy.

Guardado-Paz pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien earlier during the hearing. He had been arrested on May 5, 2025 and indicted by a federal grand jury in June of the same year.

According to authorities, Guardado-Paz was previously deported from the United States on October 18, 2019. At some point after that removal, he returned to the country without legal permission.

“United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein from the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.

Following his sentencing, Guardado-Paz is now subject to deportation proceedings.
