A Honduran national living in Fall River, Massachusetts, has been sentenced in federal court for unlawfully reentering the United States after being deported. Denis Aguirre-Murillo, 40, received a four-month prison sentence followed by two years of supervised release from U.S. District Court Judge Leo T. Sorokin on November 12, 2025. Upon completion of his sentence, Aguirre-Murillo will be subject to deportation.
Aguirre-Murillo pleaded guilty in September 2025 to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien after being indicted by a federal grand jury in July 2025. According to court records, he had previously been deported to Honduras three times: in July 2007, March 2016, and January 2021. After his most recent removal in January 2021, authorities believe he returned to the United States at an unknown time and location.
Immigration officials discovered Aguirre-Murillo’s presence on May 4, 2024, following his arrest under an alias in Fall River on charges including intimidation and rape; the rape charge was later changed to indecent assault and battery. An immigration detainer was filed for him, but he was released from state custody without notification on February 19, 2025. He was later located and taken into immigration custody on May 29, 2025.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley stated: “United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Mackenzie A. Queenin prosecuted the case.
