The Holy Cross women’s rowing team finished sixth at the 2026 Patriot League Women’s Rowing Championship on May 16, according to a statement from the college. The event took place on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey.
The championship is an important competition for collegiate rowing teams in the region. Finishing sixth marks a significant effort by Holy Cross and highlights their competitive performance this season.
Associate head coach Anthony Delgreco said, “The team has put in countless hours of hard work throughout the year leading us to our championship race. A key theme this year has been resilience and knowing that regardless of outcomes we work together for the team as a whole. This attitude brought us to a 6th place finish as a team in the Patriot League.” Delgreco also praised the second varsity eight crew: “The 2v8+ were fueled by high energy and desire. They had an unbreakable trust in each other and decided it was going to be their race earning them a silver medal. This is the first medal for the team since 2017 and the best finish in the 2v8+ since 2013 when there were only six teams in the conference.”
During competition, Holy Cross’s varsity eight finished fourth in its heat with a time of 6:45.782 but won its petite final with a time of 06:54.164, more than seven seconds ahead of Lehigh. The second varsity eight placed third in its heat with a time of 06:59.735 and then earned silver after finishing second behind Boston University with an improved time of 06:40.090.
Other results included wins by both varsity four crews in their respective petite finals, while Holy Cross’s second varsity four finished fifth overall after advancing through heats earlier that day.
“We as a staff are so proud of the entire team and the hard work they’ve put in! We celebrate today but set our eyes to 2026-2027. Go Cross Go!” Delgreco said.
This event concludes Holy Cross women’s rowing activities for their current season.
