The College of the Holy Cross announced on May 19 that Adam Mercer has joined its staff as an assistant women’s ice hockey coach. Head coach Katie Lachapelle said Mercer brings a strong work ethic, deep hockey knowledge, and an ability to connect with student-athletes.
Lachapelle said, “Adam is a tremendous addition to our staff. His work ethic, hockey knowledge and ability to connect with student-athletes make him a great fit for our program and the Holy Cross community. We are excited to have him join us as we continue building toward championship success.”
Before joining Holy Cross, Mercer was the goaltending coach for the men’s ice hockey team at Roger Williams University during the 2025-2026 season. He also worked as managing director and goaltending coach at Stop It Goaltending, where he coached athletes including Calgary Wranglers’ Devin Cooley and Providence Bruins’ Brandon Bussi.
Mercer has experience working with junior-level players through his time with the Railers Junior Hockey Club in the National Collegiate Development Conference. There he coached goaltenders, ran video analysis sessions, and designed individualized training plans for players aiming for collegiate opportunities. He also managed Stop It Goaltending U, a mobile platform delivering goalie-specific instruction nationwide.
Mercer graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. As starting goaltender for two seasons on SNHU’s team, he recorded a 19-16-0 record along with a 3.34 goals against average and .903 save percentage after previously playing two years at Norwich University.
The appointment comes as Holy Cross continues its efforts to build towards championship success under Lachapelle’s leadership.
