Harvard-Radcliffe Lightweight Rowing will host Boston University and MIT for the Beanpot Trophy on April 17, according to a recent announcement. The event will also feature races against Gordon and Sacred Heart on the Charles River, with competition starting at 7:50 a.m.
The Beanpot is an important annual event for Harvard-Radcliffe’s lightweight rowing team, providing an opportunity to compete against local rivals and defend past successes. This year’s schedule includes six lightweight races, beginning with the novice four race and concluding with the light varsity eight at approximately 9:35 a.m. Races will alternate with the Harvard men’s heavyweight Compton Cup contest against Princeton.
Last year, Harvard-Radcliffe secured two first-place finishes in the first and second varsity four events at the Beanpot, along with second-place results in both doubles events and in the first varsity eight. The team is also competing this weekend for the Linda Muri Cup—a trophy they last won in 2024 after previously claiming it five times between 2011 and 2015.
The team recently recorded strong performances at the Knecht Cup, where its varsity eight boat won its grand final race. That victory earned them possession of the Class of 2004 Cup over Georgetown.
Lineups for Harvard-Radcliffe boats will be announced as soon as they are available. Looking ahead, RVL will finish its regular season at home next weekend when it hosts Tufts on Saturday, April 25.
