Harvard men’s golf finished in eighth place after the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Athens Regional on May 18, with Barry Zhang leading the team by ending the day two-under-par and placing 12th overall. The Crimson completed the first round at even par, finishing ahead of two top-50 teams.
The tournament began with Harvard starting on the back nine. Zhang recorded seven pars and a birdie before making the turn at even par, then posted a strong front nine with two more birdies and seven pars for a total score of 33 on that side. He closed out day one just four shots behind the leader.
First-year player Isaac Ahn also had a notable performance, shooting an even-par round that included an eagle on his first hole—the par-4 tenth—making him one of only three players in the field to achieve an eagle during round one. Morgan Riley and William Ma both finished their rounds at one-over-par, while Leuan Jones ended five-over.
Among other highlights for Harvard, Ma opened his round with a bogey-free front nine. Two Crimson golfers concluded day one in the top half of individual standings: Zhang was in 12th place while Ahn tied for 29th. Riley and Ma both tied for 39th place after their rounds.
Harvard is scheduled to return for round two of competition tomorrow as part of ongoing play in Athens Regional, with tee times yet to be announced.
