Graduate student Graham Stedfast broke the University of Massachusetts Lowell men’s track and field 800-meter school record on May 17 during the Battle Road Twilight Series Meet at MIT. Stedfast finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:48.47.
The achievement highlights a strong showing for UMass Lowell athletes at the meet, as several team members posted personal bests across multiple events.
In addition to Stedfast’s performance, senior Basit Iddriss finished seventh in the same race with a time of 1:51.20. In the 100-meter dash, junior Evan Imasogie and sophomore Michael Gyimah both qualified for finals after running personal records of 10.59 and 10.62 seconds respectively. Gyimah placed sixth in the final with a time of 10.78, while Imasogie took seventh at 10.81.
Senior Alejandro Lynch was victorious in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, winning with a personal-best mark of 53.21 seconds to close out track events for UMass Lowell.
In field competition, freshman Reznor Rokicki won the discus throw among six competitors with a personal-best toss of 53.16 meters. Graduate student Ian Camerato set his own personal record by reaching 50.16 meters for second place, while freshman Kenneth Kalvinek rounded out results for UMass Lowell by finishing fourth with a throw of 43.58 meters.
The River Hawks’ performances at this meet reflect ongoing development within their program as they approach future competitions.
