A Brazilian national residing in Milford has been indicted by a federal grand jury for reentering the United States illegally after deportation. Wadriam Jose Ferreira Do Carmo, 23, faces charges of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. He was previously charged by criminal complaint on May 19, 2025.

Ferreira Do Carmo was arrested by United States Border Patrol on June 2, 2023, after entering the U.S. illegally and was subsequently deported on July 20, 2023. Authorities later discovered that he had allegedly reentered the country without inspection.

On May 6, 2024, immigration authorities became aware of Ferreira Do Carmo’s presence in the U.S. following his arrest by local law enforcement in Sherborn due to an outstanding warrant. Surveillance conducted on May 19, 2025, at his last known residence in Milford revealed suspicious activity as Ferreira Do Carmo reportedly fled into the residence upon arrival and refused to cooperate with law enforcement.

The charge carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Ferreira Do Carmo is subject to deportation. Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Patricia H. Hyde from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston; and John E. King, Chief of the Milton Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus is prosecuting the case.

It should be noted that all details within the charging documents are allegations at this stage. The defendant remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
