The Boston University women’s rowing team will participate in the NCAA Championships at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia, beginning May 29. This marks the program’s 11th overall and third consecutive appearance at the event.

Racing begins Friday morning with BU competing in three events: Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, and Varsity 4+. The top three crews from each heat advance to the A/B Semifinals, while others move on to C/D Semifinals. Due to forecasts of inclement weather on Saturday, semifinals are scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Boston University is one of ten automatic qualifiers among a field of twenty-two schools. The Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ boats are seeded No. 18, while the Second Varsity 8+ is seeded No. 19.

Earlier this month, BU defended its Patriot League title by sweeping all four races and securing its third straight league championship. The Varsity 8+ was named Boat of the Year for a third consecutive season. Director of women’s rowing Malcolm Doldron, associate head coach Lizzie Mitchell, and assistant coach Ciara O’Sullivan received Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Seven athletes earned All-Patriot League recognition following their championship performance: Ingrid Eshuis (junior), Kate Barham (sophomore), Laura Leong (sophomore), and Marta Carfagni (freshman) were named First Team; Lydia Pelton (junior), Raylynn Boston (sophomore), and Gigi Williams (sophomore) made Second Team. Eshuis also received Academic All-Patriot League honors.
