The Boston University men’s rowing team will participate in the 2026 Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 17. The event marks a return to competition for the No. 11 ranked Terriers after a two-week break.

The team is set to field five crews in morning heats, with finals scheduled for the afternoon. Fans can follow all races through Overnght.com with a subscription, and live results will be posted on the Quinsigamond River Association’s website.

According to the final heavyweight seeding poll released on May 7, BU’s Varsity 8 is seeded eighth, just behind Yale and ahead of Syracuse and Cornell. The Second Varsity (2V) crew holds the tenth seed, Third Varsity (3V) is ninth, and Fourth Varsity (4V) is seventh. BU is also one of six schools entering a Fifth Varsity 8 boat, seeded third behind Princeton and Dartmouth.

In their last outing at the Lake Morey Invite from April 25-26 in Fairlee, Vermont, BU retained the Lusins Cup by defeating No. 17 Columbia in the Varsity 8 race and won against No. 9 Syracuse to claim the Conlan Cup for the first time since 2019. The First Varsity also finished closely behind No.7 Dartmouth by just half a second.

Recent polls place BU’s top varsity boat at eleventh nationally according to IRCA/IRA rankings as of May 6; their Second Varsity ranks thirteenth while Third Varsity stands twelfth overall. Last year at this regatta on Lake Quinsigamond, all four Terrier boats finished among the top ten with Third and Fourth Varsities each placing eighth after runner-up finishes in their Petite Finals.

After honoring its senior class during a special convocation ceremony, Boston University will next prepare for participation in the IRA National Championship Regatta from May 29-31 at Lake Natoma.
