The Boston University lightweight rowing team earned two victories on April 18 in its last spring competition on the Charles River, facing crews from Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT, Sacred Heart, and Gordon.

The event is significant as it marks the end of BU’s home racing schedule for the season and featured strong performances despite challenging weather conditions. Crews competed under foggy skies with temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, choppy currents, and gusty tailwinds.

BU won both the Lightweight “A” Double and Lightweight 4 “B” races. In the Lightweight “A” Double, Catherine Clark and Cece Mason secured first place with a time of 7:40.874—almost ten seconds ahead of Radcliffe. The Lightweight 4 “B” crew, coxed by Amna Rezvi and stroked by Emilia Vukasinovic, finished in front with a time of 7:45.800 after expanding their lead at the midpoint to three lengths over MIT.

Other events included second-place finishes for BU in both the Lightweight “B” Double (Chloe Capizzi and Aviva Chen-Oretsky) and the Beanpot matchup featuring BU’s Lightweight 8 crew coxed by Lylah Nag. In this race, Radcliffe claimed victory after BU overcame an early setback to finish second.

After racing concluded, Boston University honored its eight-member senior class: Caroline Burchette, Catherine Clark, Ela Ersan, Nora Hemsley, Kylie Lough, Zoe Meurer, Elizabeth Falo-Yohn and Carly Milosevic.

Looking ahead to next week (April 25), several BU crews will travel to Redwood City to compete against Stanford while others head to Lake Quinsigamond for races versus Rhode Island and Delaware.
