A Boston man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Kyvon Ross, 26, received a 46-month prison sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris, followed by three years of supervised release. Ross pleaded guilty in April 2025 to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, when law enforcement approached Ross after he was seen driving a moped at high speed without a rear license plate. He accelerated towards an officer before losing control and falling. Authorities found him with a loaded Glock handgun that had an obliterated serial number.

Ross is barred from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions, including a federal conviction in 2021 for the same offense.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Field Division, announced the sentencing. The Boston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives assisted with the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney William F. Abely prosecuted the case.
